Tamra Sheline - Watercolor Artist on Yupo paper

Tamra Sheline has always loved art and was always drawing as a child. She started college as a fine art major and switched to graphics arts. She has been an art director and a graphic designer for many years but her true passion has always been the fine arts.
Tamra enjoys working in many different mediums; watercolor, acrylic, pencil, brush, ink, drawing traditionally at the drawing table and computer illustration. She has designed a few bracelet/jewelry designs through Tattooed Steel (TattooedSteel.com) and won an award for best design.
As an illustrator, she has drawn for books and has digitally illustrated for poses on yoga mats (G2Lifestyles.com) and has worked with names such as Paula Abdul, Lenny Krazelberg, Misty May, Eric Fonoimoano and Natalie Gulbis.
Most of the paintings shown here are watercolor on Yupo, a synthetic paper. In fact, Yupo isn’t actually a paper- it is a thin sheet of plastic. Yupo was developed for the printing industry. It was designed to take ink smoothly and richly without deteriorating with age or tearing. Yupo has a very silky surface and the plastic does not absorb water. The paint tends to flow and blend kind of with a mind of it’s own. It does take some getting used to, but the results make it worth it.
Tamra resides in Camas, Washington with her husband Eric, a retired Sergeant Major in the Marine Corps, and their two incredible sons. She is a member of Southwest Washington Watercolor Association and Battle Ground Art Alliance. She enjoys teaching Art Parties and Watercolor on Yupo Classes.
